Brooklyn Bridge Tower

Post by BillK »

I made this 3D model of the Brooklyn Bridge tower in Shapr3D which I’m still learning. I just started with a photograph, but then did a search for drawings and found the original in the National archives on line. I then imported this into Aspire. Given how easy it is to manipulate 3D models in 3D software, I wonder if we’ll get that type of functionality in Aspire one day. You kinda get one real shot to get it right when you import an STL into Aspire, be nice to manipulate model components freely, without using tilt and fade tools one day. But its still an excellent tool, just talking some nice to haves.

New York has been hard hit by Corona, we all want to get back to where we were. The Bridge is an enduring symbol of New York’s architecture and ability to innovate and adapt.

Thanks for looking!

NICE work Bill!! :)
Got a cousin (OB/GYN) who went back to NYC after dropping her 3 yr old with parents up here.
"Somebody has to deliver the babies!!"
We all wish her well, but 20% of the Moms test positive :(
My thoughts go out to everybody everywhere!

I've learned my lesson well. You can't please everyone,so you have to please yourself

I reduced the size on this to about 60% of the original and carved in walnut. Used a 1 mm TBN instead of 1/16, got a 45° engraving bit from my friends at Precisebits for the railing detail, and did the outside lettering with a 60°V instead of 90°. Used the same stepover with the 1 mm on an offset climb carve.
