Rather than hijack a V-carve post on dovetails, I'll post here. This is a hickory chest. Large top compartment and drawer below. You probably recognize the eagle on the drawer front. I also V-carved around the outline of the drawer pulls. Dovetail is more of a bear ear. Each hickory plank runs around end/front/end, including the piece for the drawer. Corner joints were done with Aspire.

That is beautiful and great craftsmanship!!! Would you be willing to give a tutorial on the Side Joints and the Bear Paw joints? If at all possible and possiblity that you would share a portion of each of the joints as crv or crv3d files?

Here's the info on the "dovetails."

The front is cut vertically thru a hole in the bed.
The two sides are cut conventionally--flat on the bed. Those vectors are enlarged by 0.01" to allow for fitting and glue. Depth of both cuts was 3/4" to match the board thickness.

.DXF's are for a 0.25" EM and are about 8" long, so will cut some air for shallower drawer sides or you can clip the vectors.
Do a practice cut in cheap pine before you commit to the good wood.

You're going to need a new name for the drawer front joint. Looks more like a jigsaw joint than a dovetail joint to me.

Mark, good eye, full disclosure--that picture was a setup. The vertical backer board has sandpaper glued to it (to prevent shifting) and line-up lines scribed into it (for plumb) and I use multiple clamps. Origin for X,Y is still lower left corner of the end grain.
