Friday Pie Day

Post by MTSO »

Hi everyone, Just made a sign for work as we have introduced a new Friday morning activity yum yum. The sign will be attached to
a tray that you take to the different pie shops, SO maybe a bit of free advertising. I took inspiration on the finishing front from the latest
Michael Tyler and am really impressed with the result. Thanks Michael.
Also i had a wee play with the "steam punk" theme and using pastels with inspiration from PLA3D and again looked good for a first attempt.

As per usual i am a little eager with posting pictures, here is the final picture with the sign clear coated. The picture doesn't show how good it looks as it looks glossy with the final clear coat.

The only pie worth eating is lemon meringue. . .and apple. . . .and blueberry. . . .and rhubarb. . .and pecan. . .and, and, and. . .

Nicely done!

I like the paint treatment. It spiffs it up nicely.

Normally not a painted wood fan, but your artistic flare makes that sign pop.

What type of paint do you use?

Base coat?

Hello everyone, thanks for the comments.

"What type of paint do you use?" Just used acrylic paint, i think the key is sealing the sign in between the "colour" and the stain coat so as you can get the wiped effect. I can see a few more of these signs coming in the future for man caves i think.
But the real burning question i think is pies!

New Zealand is fond of a good pie, we have national pie competitions to see who has the countries best pie. that might be a little difficult in the US i think.
We are a country of pie eaters, Steak, steak and cheese, pepper Steak, Mince and cheese, butter chicken, bacon and egg, chicken and Camembert and the list goes on. As you can see we are very savory in the way we have pies and you eat them with one hand as the other hand can then be used for holding your beer! hence the kiwi slang "lets go out for a pie and a pint".

Long live the pie!...... and we are far better than those Aussie pie eaters as we have a better meat v filling ratio, very important.

regards

Brian (who ate all the pies)
