Upsize my Shoe Cubby

I have had this project on the "white board" for a couple of years now. I need shelves in the "man cave". They have to be big - both tall and deep.
It's my man cave so nothing "off the shelf" sorta speak will work. I have looked and looked for a good design idea and nothing.
When going through the Vectric Free projects a couple of months ago I saw Micheal Tyler's Shoe Cubby and knew immediately that was the look.
How upsized?
42" tall
18" deep
16 1/2 feet long
The uprights were made from true 2"x8" cypress boards
Shelves are maple plywood
Lots of work still to do, but thought I would share a peek.

Wow nice work. So just what is going on in your mancave that requires that much shelving? Must be quite the items that are displayed. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you all for the kind words.

Michael, I love your designs, and let me say, I thought it would be easy to modify the fluted leaf carving until I tackled it. Your original flows so effortlessly, it was a week of long evenings trying to match the new parts to the original and even then I didn't achieve the same elegance but hopefully it blends well enough.

Will be posting progress pictures as progress is made.

I'm glad you posted this and that Michael did the original plan. I need a shelf for our master bedroom and the larger dimensions less a few feet long will be perfect. Thanks to both of you, WNC_Ed and Michael.

Here is what three of the five shelf uprights look like before and after stain.

Another great example of how to take a free project and tweak it to suit your own needs.

Well done and thanks for sharing :)

Thanks,
Beki

Just a quick update.
Shelf fronts have been added.
2 rail sweep for the shape, more fluted leaves for embellishment.

Scott, I spent all day yesterday looking for a shipping pallet large enough to ship this on ... I think I just built it too large
