Just finished the rocking chair. Was a real behind ripper, but only due to my lack of woodworking and computer skills. I modeled all the parts in Aspire and cut them on my ShopBot. I didn't have to do a whole lot of shaping by hand, but did go through several boxes of various grits of sandpaper. I finished the chair in Tried and True Varnish Oil (a real glutton for punishment) and the pictures are taken in my unused living room where it can sit until it dries....Thanks for looking...joe

That is a beauty.......fantastic job. How long did the machining take?.

Thanks for the kind reply.. The machining was pretty straight forward. With a job this size I was able to use bigger bits, like .5" ball nose, etc. The only really touchy part was doing the underside of the seat to make sure the leg joints matched the topside.. A very good two sided machining exercise.. Thanks again...joe

Beautiful rocker and beautiful joinery. I have made three Maloof style rockers, and each one is a bit different from the others. Not sure I have another one in me.

Your chair will be an heirloom, for sure.

Angie, I agree, I swore this one was enough, but as I was finishing up, I'm thinking well...maybe one more. By the way, Back when all the discussion was going on about these types of rockers, you posted about how you made your seats and that is how I made mine. I don't know if I could have been successful without your description and process. Hal Taylor makes his seats on a CNC, but he doesn't sell the design. He was ready to help, but he keeps that in house..thanks again for everyone's kind words...joe
