Eagle

Post by garylmast »

I took the stl file of this eagle in to ZBrush and separated the head, body and base so I could machine it in different woods. The Head and the Base is Maple and Body is from some recycled cedar from an old fence I tore down. The biggest problem was when I sliced them, some of the concaved areas wasn't concaved, so there was a lot of hand sanding and grinding to make the parts fit. All in all, I think it turn out okay. It stands 24-inches tall and is 13-inches wide. Gary

Fantastic, I have always contemplated doing a 3D piece like that but……This is most impressive, the thought process involved in finishing this piece had to incredible. My head is spinning how well everything matches up. Please give more details on your cut process?

Love it.

Mostly I love the ingenuity to be able to use the tools at hand to create something that would ordinarily be thought of as a 5 axis job with $50k programming software.

And beyond that - to use different woods to get the desired effect.

Standing ovation, here.
