Chair/step ladder
Assembled by three of my neighbors for Christmas for their daughters. Two of them are learning woodworking for their imminent retirement days.

Re: Chair/step ladder
That's great looking chairs/step ladders. What did you cut them out of and was it all done on your CNC?

Here's a free 3D pdf showing views & plans for a very similair step stool/ladder. It can easily be converted to CNC.
Commonly known as the Ben Franklin Library Stool.

Re: Chair/step ladder
The chairs in the photo are made from northern red oak. I am currently working on a couple made of black walnut.
No other photos available yet. If you want them post a message with your email and I will send them to you, free.
.crv3d files are too big to post.
.dxf file attached To accommodate the decorative v-carve depth at 0.125" the back thickness is 13/16" to allow for the .5" diameter dowels.
I used a .5" spiral bit to cut out the parts and drill the dowel holes. Dowel holes are 0.625" deep
Seat halves fastened together with a brass plated piano hinge. Steps and stretcher installed in dado with pocket screws and non-hardening construction adhesive. Visible pocket screw holes and countersunk screws plugged.
I also duplicated the dado tool-paths to clean-out the cuts.
The dado cuts for the stretcher under the seat is longer than the stretcher width to facilitate installation without squaring the blind dado or rounding the stretcher. The small resulting hole isn't too noticeable since it is in the shadows. You can do what you wish.
Note: dado cuts must extend beyond the finished edge or you will get inside rounded corners. Always cut cross-grain cuts first to prevent tear-out.

Hi Dale,
Very nice project!! Question about the dados...is there a reason why you didn't use the Dog Bone fillet feature (or T-Bone) instead of making the slots longer?
