FA 1-6 Assassin
Hi All,
I just had to share this before it is completed. It will be sent to the FA 1-6 in Afghanistan. They have quite the imagination. Don't you think? So far I have close to 20 hours of modeling time in it. I still need to add a hip knife, medical pouch, some skulls on the ground about the feet and the Army crest in the middle of the chest.
I started the piece at 50in x 50in and increased the size of the material as. I add components. Most of the texturing was done by hand using a pen pad.
Thanks for looking and any comments.

Very impressive.
A human figure is the hardest subject to get right and you've done a great job of modeling the Assassin.

Re: FA 1-6 Assassin
Thanks Bill this has been one of those fun projects.
Mike,
You couldn't be more true. I still don't feel I captured the torso very well. I used a serries of profiles with the 2 rail sweep to get what I have now. It still seems to be a little flat. But if I round it out I well have trouble matching the head.
The Arms and legs seemed to be the easiest. I just segmented each joint and 2 rail swept, adjusted the tilt, merged and baked.
I think the boots provide the best effect of realism.
I'm still working on the breast plate and hope to have it posted sometime tonight.
Thank for the comments. Aspire is the best! H U A.... oops..... HOOYA!!! Go NAVY!

Ok the knife med pouch and chest plate are complete. I only have to add the wording/dedication and cut. I will post the completed plaque when finished.

Re: FA 1-6 Assassin
Jim, that modeling job is awesome - actually the figure comes off as scarey. So I think you somehow captured the right feel. When you have the time, a tutorial on your process would help the world of Aspire (for those of us "aspiring" to do this kind of work).

Xxray,
I will try to complete it as soon as I can.
Angie,
Thanks for the complement but I feel I'm just a hacker. I stumble around so much that I don't have time to keep up with what I've done. I might be able to break it done I'll give it a shot but it might be a while.
The Pen Pad has been my best friend.

Re: FA 1-6 Assassin
Hi Kelly,
Sorry for not getting back with you sooner. Thanks for the complement.
I did start a tutorial as Angie suggested but quickly realized with this particular project the design belongs to FA 1-6 which is not a problem except the graphic they provided belongs to someone else so I can't post it.
I would be glad to provide some assistance if you have a photo of interest that you can share or maybe even a unit patch. (something like a soldier on post)

Re: FA 1-6 Assassin
I finally have the time to post this. 4.5 hour total cut time, .45" deep, carved area 6X9. It was cut with a .25EM rough cut, the finish was cut with a .093BN at 5% stepover and 65 IPM the lettering was cut at .07 flat depth with a 60VCB. Three of them are on the way to Afghanistan and I expect a few more orders.
Please enjoy.
