Another collie sketchcarve

Post by dealguy11 »

I like the sketchcarve function for collies because the coat works well with it. Can you guess my favorite dog? I raised the sketchcarved area about 3/16" above the back to highlight it better and glazed it to bring out the lines.

I'm torn about the decision to leave the knot. The idea was to make it seem more natural, but the placement doesn't really work. May have to redo it if it starts to bother me too much.

Did you raise it by lowering the background?

Your glazing of the carved area is a good solution to the lack of control of the sketchcarve toolpath's parameters. The source image is so important to the outcome. +1

I like the overall piece, but the knot makes it look like a test piece.

If you don't want to waste it, you could just whack off the knot and make a new chamfer.

But it is not as bad as my attempt to 3d machine a face from very figured and split mulberry root. That came out looking like a zombie with big gashes in the forehead. Otherwise it was not too bad
