Do other people do this? A lot of things I make on my CNC I swipe from others: Saw a picture of a class for making a carved spoon using a chip carving style. I thought "Oh, this might be kind of nice to make on the CNC". Of course, it took longer to design and cut than it would have taken to carve by hand. -- But I didn't lose any fingers in the process, and I might have if I were handling chisels.
The carve came out ok, but I was disappointed in the V-carving: It was a brand new expensive name brand 90deg bit but didn't come to a point!
(I tried to add the image I copied from but it's a .tiff. Here's a link to the class with images https://sandiegocraft.org/product/spoon-carving/ )
Wood is cherry with shellac and butcher block wax finish.

Well done, I really like the chip carving design.

Did you show your CNC version of the spoon to the carving class instructor?
If yes, what was his reaction?

Hi Phil, thanks for the comment on the chip carving. I think V-carving really lends itself to the look of chip carving. That said, I would not consider my project on a level with a master carver's skills. So no, I've had no contact with the instructor.

Hi Slowoodworker, I am 76 and also a slow woodworker. I have come to realize that aspiring to master level (the instructor) is nice but accepting great work like yours will make me happier and allow me to continue doing the work that I love.

"Great work like yours" ?? Bob, have you seen my collection of poop emojis? ;-D
A long long time ago, in a life far far away, I did actually make fine furniture for a living. But these days I enjoy figuring out how to make fun/silly stuff (and some nice stuff) on my small CNC.
