CNC machining

Post by DECKER »

I am not a professional wood worker, it's my hobby. I am using a little CNC and still learning, but thought it is worth to show it.

Nice job, good finish.

If you do not mind a bit of advice? Ease up on the background texture. It may just be the camera angle you used but the background to me is interfering with your design. That is just my opinion. . . . I usually do not comment about work folks do, but this one is so interesting I just felt that the background pulled the eye away too much and I needed to say something. But you are the artist and the only person you have to please is yourself.

Thanks, I appreciate your honest opinion and advice. I agree the background is a bit detailed and takes away form the main design. Never the less before I stained and clear coated it, it looked better. Unfortunately the background height was chosen a little bit to high for the model and was getting more pronounced with the stain and clear coat. Also, the picture does not show the model in a good angle and light and does not support the main character.

Well, I wish I had a nickel for every piece that did not turn out the way I thought it would. For the longest time I cut everything way too deep. Looked great in preview, not so much in the real carving.
