Cutting Tabs.

Post by John L »

I thought this thing was like a toy when I first got it as a gift...

I'll tell you though, it makes an excellent tab cutter with the 1" wide, serrated, straight blade. It gets two thumbs up.

I use my Dremel with this Rip/Crosscut blade:

Another option is a flush laminate bit with a laminate trim router. I like these ones because they are cheap and have a round end to prevent mistakes. They make quick work of tabs even when you have to put a tab on a curve. I normally use 1/4" bits as my profile bit so these bits clean off the tabs nice and flush without additional sanding.

A saw type blade may be faster though...need to give that a try.

Has anyone tried the rockwell knockoff of the fein multimaster?

I use my trim router to cut the tabs. It is faster than my multimaster and does a better job with no clean up.
