Another first project

Post by dealguy11 »

I decided to try something a little different to learn the features of Aspire and to try out my new Legacy Artisan (once it's set up). This is intended to be an 8x10 piece that would be framed. My intention is to laminate some maple on top of walnut, then machine it so that the horn (in maple) stands proud of the walnut. Is there any reason this won't work?

I can't see why it wouldn't work. You would need to Z-zero very accurately.

Another thought would be to inlay the maple slightly as Tim (turtle49) did here:

The auto inlay tool should work fine for this, no need to use the V-carve inlay method.

Let us know how it goes.
