Carved or shaped seat

Post by Turtle49 »

I got to thinking about how to carve a seat print in a stool. I ended up using the sweep tool in Aspire to come up with a rough layout. The curves that define the inside and outside of the print are cut into four quadrants. I then swept around them using the two cross sections. The top where you butt sits uses the bigger and deeper cross section and the sides use the smaller and shallower one.

Does that make sense?

Is that kilt stool done in 'one size fits all'?? Might be something made to a specific fit?
Where did you find it?

Wes,

You could make them custom fit by using a probe

I need a carved seat file (non-kilt type) for some oak chairs I've been asked to do - can anyone share files that you have done pls.
