Spiral Square with an arc

Post by JayBaxter »

I am looking to make 4" or 5" square bed posts that are 48" and 36" long. I would like to make them 4" or 5" spiral square with and arc from top to bottom. Is this even possible? If so what is the best way to proceed?

Haven't done any work with rotary modeling because I don't have a 4th axis. Look on the Vectric website under Support->Tutorials->Aspire. There are several videos that look like they would help.

How about you draw a sketch and post a photo of that?

Do you mean "taper" 2" over 48"?

Well, I'm back to report...
It's " possible" ( and I use the term loosely ) to create it in Aspire.
There's a lot of distortion with this type of shape.
I would mostly likely use a different program to create the shape and then bring it into Aspire for cutting..
The straight twist is much easier to make.

But as I said, it's " Possible "
