Needing help in design for 3D printing

Post by oldcrowe »

Hello all!

I have modeled up a router 'holder' for a router lift table I am building.

You can see I have two mounting ears for the guide rails, and one ear for the pinch bolts. I have the basics in place, but I would like to design in the mounting ears 4 bosses to install 'nutserts' and I'd like two holes for the pinch bolts, as well as bosses to insert 'nutserts' as well.
Is it possible to design horizontal holes in Aspire 3D modeling? I realize it would require a 4 axis CNC if it were to built from wood, but I want to 3D print this.
Any and all suggestions appreciated!!
Thanks so much!

I'm new to Vectric software but that looks more like a job for 3CAD to me.
I don't think I can say any more due to forum rules Re: other software? ? ? ?

I've used Aspire often to make 3D models to 3D print. The limitations always are pockets from the sides that couldn't be cut with a 3-axis CNC. In a few cases splitting the model into two halves to print lets me export and then 3D print the two halves and glue them together to create what I wanted. Otherwise I use Sketchup version 8 that can export more complex STL files.

Well, that's kinda what I suspected, but I hoped I was wrong... Looks like I have to dust off my Confusion 360...

If you’re going the LottoDesk route then this might be a quicker and easier way for such a simple object.
