Sliding Dove Tail Vector

Post by Jefoni »

Greetings all,

My age is getting to me. Please remind me how you can profile a dove tail bit and follow a straight overlapping up and back vector inside the vector, outside the vector or on the vector without the bit retracting or turning at the top of the overlapping vector.

I'm making some STOPPED dove tails, and I got it to work by machining ON THE LINE without retracting Z at the top by drawing an up vector connected to a down vector and assigning the starting point. If I do inside or outside the vectors it makes a turn at the top and comes back. Is up and back profile machining WITHOUT retracting the Z at the top ONLY capable if profile is machined ON THE LINE?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Respectfully,

Jeff

You have to do it on the line as the type of vector you need to create to have the plunge and retract in the same place won't work with the outside or inside option.

I draw the line using the polyline tool. Click where you want the plunge point to be, move to where you want the cut to stop and click again, then move back the the plunge point and click at the same point to end the line and exit the tool.
