Fluting tool path for drainage

Post by Scary Larry »

I am designing a shower pan for my RV. I was going to use the fluting tool path to slope from the shower edge to the drain center. Is there an easy way to do the toolpath other than measuring individual vectors and figuring the amount of slope, .25 per foot, needed. I've attached the Aspire file.

Using the fluting toolpath with an end mill. Just be aware that the vectors control the path of the center of the end mill so the actual cut may extend beyond the end(s) by the cutter radius. Also, there may be a flat equal to the diameter of the cutter at the lowest end. The vectors were arranged using the circular array tool and then trimmed to the square using the Trim Objects tool. The distance between the ends of the vectors is about 1/4 the diameter of the end mill used.

Thank you for your reply and information. This should save me a lot of time in producing cut programs.
