Clamping workpieces against a fixed z-value upwards

I do a lot of milling work for an olive wood dealer and his boards are rarely straight or equal, i clamp the boards against a fixed z-level upwards to get an even 1mm pocket or round over milling if necessary. I developed some clamping devices by clamping wedges and wedge paths made with the Fluting Toolpath or by cones on the vice.
Do you have any other solutions?

Eckart,
These look like nifty methods to me. I like the simplicity of it.
