I have designed and modeled the letters shown below. They have a slight dome on the top of them created using the "create shape from vectors" tool. Then added a 9 degree draft. I need help figuring out a way to toolpath and not have to turn all the waste material outside the letters into chips.
I can profile around the outside and the inside as shown in the second photo, but when I do a 3D toolpath to get the curvature on the top of the letters Aspire wants to machine all the waste material as shown in the third photo. Is there a way to not do this? I assume one of you very experienced guys/girls knows how, but I haven't been able to figure it out.
Thanks,
Jim

Re: Aspire toolpath question
Put an offset vector around everything, and select that before doing toolpath.

Re: Aspire toolpath question
Thanks very much. Like many things, it seems obvious now that I know what to do.

Re: Aspire toolpath question
If you just want the "Ford" use "Create vector boundary from selected component." That will outline your component. Select the outline and component then generate the toolpath. That'll only machine what you want...
