jagged edge on elispe

Post by ohiolyons »

I'm doing an oval bottom with straight sides and top. The sides are perfectly smooth and the part of the not on the tab is smoother than the oval on the tab. Is there a way to smooth the sides of an oval without the stair step effect? I'm already using bezier curves

What modelling resolution are you using? How big is the model in relation to the material?

Vertical walls are a "weak" point with the way Aspire works. Running a profile cut can smooth it out.

I always check the nodes when I encounter this problem. Since you are using a bezier curve nodes are likely not the problem, but I would check anyhow.
Next, have you tried adding draft to the component? A draft angle 5 - 15 degrees can provide a better model for machining at the edges.

Have you tried using the "Smoothing" tool in the Sculpting Tool in the Modeling Tools section?...joe

My design is not set yet, so I rounded the end over more and the jaggedness goes away.

I think I'll try this one on for size, thanks for your suggestions
