basket weave
While playing around with the extrude and weave function in Aspire , I came up with a basket weave that I thought you may be able to use.
It’s easily tileable.

Re: basket weave
Nice weave pattern Michael. And thanks for the file. The extrude tool can make very complex weave designs easy. All you need is an idea to start from.

Re: basket weave
To recreate the basket weave, follow the following steps.
NOTE : Changing any of the shapes, dimensions and or option within the Extrude and Weave function can cause wonderful results...
1. Create a .25” circle
2. Delete half of the circle to create a arch..The “Draw an Arc” tool could have also been used.
3. Copy and flip to the right to create a design of three arcs and then join the arc to make one shape.
4. This is to be used for the vertical vectors.
5 Create vertical vectors .75” apart..This is the measurement of the 3 arc shape.
6. Recreate the same arc shape except using only 2 arcs.
7. This will be used for the horizontal vectors.
8. Create horizontal vectors .75” apart...this will allow for the skipped space in the final design.
9. With the “Extrude and Weave” function select the vertical and horizontal vector.
10. Select the 3 arc shape and click on the first vertical vector.
You will see that the 3 arc shape has been placed on all vectors.
11. Next, select the 2 arc shape and click on each of the starting points of the horizontal vectors.
This will change the shape at the starting point
Make sure you remember to also click on the end point of the horizontal, otherwise more wonderful things will happen
12 Click on the “Weave under /over at crossings” option.
Hit apply.
Again, playing around with different shapes and adjusting the options within the Extrude and Weave function will allow for endless possibilities.

Re: basket weave
Here's Michael's model in a simulation view of a panel. Will make a nice looking box of some sort or as a background with an extruded round border. The border can be extruded with any shape you want to use for it.

Re: basket weave
Very nice Michael and I like the simulation view from CarveOne . This is a very useful panel and really could add a lot to a project.

Re: basket weave
Here's another example of what the Extrude and Weave can do.
It's the same basic shapes from above,,with just a "twist"
I call it.."The Tug of War "

Re: basket weave
All you need is some good ideas, and it looks like Michael has found a few already. I think once others get into this tool there will be some seriously nice stuff showing up here.
Last evening I adjusted the heights of the border and basket weave, and set them to merge in order to get rid of the exposed ends of the basket weave. Now it looks a lot better.
