To Big For My Table

Post by dcruze »

I need to route a part that is bigger than my table. Does anyone know how to register a piece, route it, move it and then register it again so it lines up and cuts perfectly?

I have heard of people doing this, but I don't know what it is called and I can't find it online.

One more thing after your review the tutorial...if you are tiling in the long direction only (X for me)...I found it works well to drill for a 1/4 inch dowel on zero, and every tile right side borderline, drilling at same Y=0 . At the zero position I drill into my spoil board about 1/2 inch. After the first tile is done, I move the material so that the 1/4 hole at the right tile borderline is at zero - place a dowel through there for perfect registration. You can even use a dowel at the right tile border (drill into table) to make sure it is absolutely perfect. Hope this is clear.

Tutorial D02 on this page shows Toolpath Tiling for the current versions of Aspire/VCP. The Tiling tool hasn't changed but the other tabs have.

If you do a search for Toolpath Tiling from the main webpage (http://www.vectric.com/) you can find a few threads with additional tips and techniques.

Thanks a lot, that is what I was looking for. I will give it a try with the dowel rods.
