Pillowed Background

Post by mezalick »

You already know about the sign that TR MacMunn designed and finished at Jim Mcgrew’s recent camp.
I had the distinct pleasure of making the sign 3-D and cutting it.
One of the items I thru into the design, with TR’s approval, was a pillowed background.
It seemed as if it was a nice change from the normal sign background and many people commented on it.
I have been asked a few time for the file of the background and I have no problem giving it away.
It’s not doing me any good in my computer as I can always do another if needed.
So, here a picture of the pillowed background.
If you interested in getting it, drop me a line.
The file is too large to post here.
I hope people will show how they used this design.
Best regards,
Michael

Thank you Michael,
That is a fantastic design and I can see many places that I could use it.

I am very tempted to take the easy road and ask you for it...

But I think I need to make the effort and learn some more about aspire and recreate it my self.
I may be back to ask for a copy if I fail at all attemps.

Micheal

I have it as a .STL file ,not an Aspire file,, so others can use it as well.

It makes it easier for thoes with different versions.

Would like to take a closer look at the file your offering !!

I tried something like that back in V3.0 of Aspire, and was
not very pleased with me results.

If I understand right your offering the .stl of the relief, I
would like to see & study your modeling methods, if the
vectors are also available.

Thanks,

Cool thanks . . .you made me start designing in new areas . . .

My method . . .
Draw square
go into modeling... pick curved profile . . . this creates the pillow
go to create linear array of copies . . . make the array
Draw circle
go into modeling... pick curved profile . . . this creates the button
go to create linear array of copies . . . make the array

Bake all objects together . . .
rotate all 45 degrees
create square the size of the material
Pick clear area of selected component outside selected vectors
Should be done . . .
