I created a few tool profiles in V-Carve Pro and have sense ugraded to Aspire. Is there any way to export / inport the tool profiles I have created into Aspire?
Thanks

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Hi Jim,
You can't export/import individual tools but why not just copy your VCP tool database and replace your Aspire one with it. This will bring all the bits and how you have it organized immediately into Aspire.
Let us know if you need more details on how to do this. Be sure to tell us what version of Windows you are running because this may change where you need to copy the tool database to.

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Jim,
It is pretty easy to do in Win XP.
Using My Computer, open your C:\ drive and find the Program Folders directory.
Open this and find the VCarve Pro V5.5 folder.
Open this and find the ToolDatabase folder.
When you open this there should only be one file called tools.tool_db. Right click on this and select Copy.
You are still in the Program Files area so find the Aspire V2.0 folder and follow the same steps as above to navigate to its ToolDatabase folder. Select this folder and right click again. Select Paste and it should give you the warning to replace the file. You can either click Yes to replace or stop this and rename the original Aspire tool database file first. Just add something like .save to the file name, for example.
After you have copied your VCP tool database to Aspire, start Aspire and select Edit>Tool Database to verfiy your bits are there.

Thanks Tim,
I'm a bit busy and will give it a try as soon as I can. I will get back to you and let you know the result.

Tim, Dan,
Thanks for all the help I found the file and every thing seems cut and dry. I am afraid that I will need to readjust my cut depths step over and speed for Aspire now. I guess you cant have it all.

Thanks for the instructions on copying the tool data base over from Vcarve to Aspire.
I have a different problem, I have Aspire and I decided to try Photo V Carve so I could carve photos into some boxes that I made. I downloaded the trial version of Photo V Carve to give it a try but I can’t find my Post Processor in the Photo V Carve list. I was going to copy the one I use in Aspire but can’t find the trial version of Photo V Carve to copy it to. It’s not in the program library where Aspire resides. I tried to run one of the Photo V Carve PP but it wasn’t good. I have a CAMaster MC4848 running Mach3. Do you know where the trial versions are so I can update my PP. I wrote to Tony but haven’t heard back yet.
Thanks
Mark

The default Mach3 postprocessor installed with the Trial version of PhotoVCarve
should run your machine.
It's listed as - Mach2/3 (inch) (*.txt)
If this doesn't work please email support and we'll get back to you.

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Hi Mark,
I use Mach 3 as well. In Aspire I use (Gcode inch .tap) as my post processor. Within Mach 3 in Gen Config change the IJ mode to absolute. That is how I'm set up in Aspire anyway.

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Hello,
Just to clarify a point that Jim has made.
The default arc post processors that ship with VCarve Pro V5.5 and Aspire 2.5
for Mach2/3 override whatever setting you have set for the IJ mode in Mach3.
So the setting is not important for VCarve Pro V5.5 / Aspire V2.5
However, for all other Vectric products, the IJ Mode within the Mach3 config,
should be set to "Inc".
All Mach2/3 ARC post processors that ship with Vectric products as standard
output arcs with Incremental IJ Arc center coordinates.
Cheers,
Mark.

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Thanks for the clarification Mark. I tried to use the March 2/3 Post Processor with IJ mode incremented and had no success. So I ended up loaded the Generic "G code PP" and set IJ to absolute, the starts aligned and the sun was eclipsed be the moon.
Could it actually be a controller computability? The only reason I changed it in the first place was I found the solution on another forum.
Currently Using: Aspire 2.5, Mach 2/3 on a Romaxx WD-1.

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Thanks for the information everyone. Tony was right (big surprise) the Mach2/3 (inch) (*.txt) PP worked fine on my machine. I’m able to run the trial version of Photo V Carve now without a problem. Still need to determine if that program is right for what I want to do but it’s all good for now.

Re: Tool Profile Transfer VCP to Aspire
Thats funny I also tried the .....txt and everything looked great until I got to the end of a rough out and found that the whole center of the tool path was full of squiggles. Is there a problem if I use the G code Tap PP?
