Re: Aspire V2.5 Released
I have my Aspire on my "D" partition. The upgrade only tries to find the program on the "C" partition.
Anyone have any suggestions on how I can get the upgrade to look on the "D" partition - or any other suggestions pls
Thanks,
Pete

Re: Aspire V2.5 Released
Pete,
From Brian's initial post:
"If you have installed Aspire V2 into a directory other than “Program Files\Aspire 2.0” the Patch program may not be able to find it. If this is the case copy the patch program into the folder in which you installed Aspire 2.0 and run it from there."
Have you tried copying the patch to the 'Program Files\Aspire 2.0' on your D drive?

Thanks very much - putting the patch in the Aspire directory and then launching it worked a treat - DUH - I guess "Read the instructions" would be in order here.
Thanks again.

Re: Aspire V2.5 Released
Another GREAT upgrade!
Thank you!!
Thank you!!
Re: Aspire V2.5 Released
My update crashed. It seemed to patch, then it went into the C++ redistributable update. During that, it couldn't install vcredist.msi. It hung up there and I had to select cancel. It proceeded to install and say everything was alright. Clicking on the aspire icon brings up an error "application configuration is incorrect. Reinstalling the application may fix the problem". Rerunning the patch informs that aspire is up to date. Not sure what to do next, but its broken pretty badly.

John,
Try going to directly to the Microsoft site (link below), read the instructions and download/install vcredist_x86.exe. That's what we had to do with the beta versions.

Tim,
Getting a similar error, "The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable." I'm not installing over a network or anything. Files on C, OS on C. Grrr. Good thought though.

Re: Aspire V2.5 Released
Sorry it didn't work for you John. Only other thought is to uninstall using the control panel add/remove programs, then try re-installing version 2 followed by the patch to 2.5. As long as you back up everything first, I can't see where you could loose anything by trying.
If you haven't done it already, I would back up your forum post with an email to tech support, support AT vectric DOT com.

Hello John,
I think that the most likely explanation for what you have
seen is that the computer account that you used to install
does not have sufficient privileges to be able to install the
Microsoft redistributable package.
Try logging onto your computer using the Administrator
account (if you have one).
If you do not have an administrator computer account,
logon with another account that has administrative privileges.
Then navigate to the "C:\Program Files\Aspire V2.0\Exec" folder
and double click on the "vcredist_x86.exe" file.
This will re-attempt to install just the Visual Studio C++ redistributable
part of the installation.
I hope that this helps.
Cheers,
Mark.
