Aspire DVD
Aspire DVD
Hi,
I guess this one is more for the Vectric team and may have been asked already.
If I purchase Aspire online, why can it not be activated in the same manner as Vcarve and the other products? The trial version is fully functional except for saving toolpaths in the same manner as Vcarve. It only looks though like the license/serial number menu option does nothing and is not functional. You mention on the website that the reason for this is that the size of the tutorials/etc make a DVD mandatory. It appears to me that Aspire could be activated in the same manner as the other products and thus making purchasers far from Vectric able to get full use immediately upon purchase. Or am I missing something and that is the case already??
Is it really really necessary to wait 10 days for the arrival of Aspire DVD in order to cut?
If so, it appears that this is more of a security issue rather than a program/tutorial-size issue.
Best Regards,
Bob

Don't forget about the 1.2GB of free models that come with the Aspire software. And the 2GB of tutorials as well.

Re: Aspire DVD
I would suspect it is a security thing..
To me, is a GOOD thing!
I didn't mind waiting the 5 days it took me to get my cd..
Heck, 5 days from the UK to the US is pretty good time!
In the meantime you can practice, practice and practice some more.
Once you practice, you can save your practice files, then open them in
the real version...

You are missing the point. I could wait for those to come in the mail. They are not needed to start cutting.
I don't mind this policy as many companies choose to do it this way. But why not just state that it is a security/piracy related issue? With broadband, anyone can download a half-gig Zip file in short order. Those with dial-up can choose not to do so.
BTW, I am not attacking or criticizing Vectric, I was simply asking a question that really does not require defending.

Re: Aspire DVD
No not really, I understand your point perfectly. You want to cut something today instead of next week. I myself prefer that a "hard copy" be delivered. I'm fairly confident that most of the Aspire owners feel the same.
I hope you are able to get the software soon.

Re: Aspire DVD
Bob, doesn't the anticipation make you feel like a kid again?
I had to wait over a week, checking the mailbox daily. I just wanted it!
Oh well, we just have to deal with it I guess.

Ok, I guess I have to wait now for the US snail mail to deliver the DVD as I just purchased it today. So used to living in this "instant gratification" society!!! Oh well, patience is a virtue and I will continue to play with the Trial Version and sit looking out the front window for the mailman (or postman) in between sessions!!!!
