create new 3 d model

Post by GaryR6 »

Been a while, might be rusty. Need to create a finger board (guitar) for a friend. So, 2.2 5x19 x.23. Used the molding tool path to get the radius (12 inches fit to board). Need to put the fret bars in the board, selected apply tool path to 3d model, calculate and the fret cuts are constant dept. Not matched to the radius. So whats wrong? I suspect my board is not a Model (yet) so Aspire can't fit to it. So how do I do it?
Thanks for the help

Using the Guitar Fretboard gadget may simplify things for you.

Documentation is in a zip file.

It was written for V9.5 but works with V11.5 too.

The moulding toolpath does not create a 3D model so you have no model to set the vectors to

Try searching the forum, I just remembered that there was a post some time ago where the OP was using the moulding toolpath because it was much faster than machining a 3D component but then used the create component from toolpath preview function (its under the modelling tab at top of screen) so that they had a component & could use the project onto 3D model feature
