Is their a simple way of moving x,y datum position after the fact?

Post by 2C3D4U »

Hello,
Although my post allows any X,Y datum position (currently central), is their a simple way of moving the latter, so the whole kit and kaboodle,( i.e. material, toolpaths, components and vectors) converts to referencing X,Y at the lower left corner?

I'm hoping I can circumvent copying vectors and re-toolpathing the whole thing.

As always, the help manual should be your friend.
  • Main Aspire help page
  • Specific page for Job Setup which discusses Datum setup (centre, lower left, upper right, etc.)

I understand well how to set it up. My question regards the possibility of moving the datum point from central material position to the lower left corner AFTER the entire file, in all its glory, is created. Sure would be nice if a couple of keystrokes performed this task, including toolpath recalculations.

Just curious......would you reckon 90% of this forums contents can be answered in the manual?

You can move it from center to where ever then recalculate all toolpaths, maybe 4 key strokes total.

Open your existing project
Click on Edit/Job Size and Position
In the Job Setup dialog box click on where you want your new XY datum position to be

Click OK
Press <F12> to go to the toolpaths Material setup
Click on the Recalculate All Toolpaths icon

If you've got existing toolpaths Aspire will ask if you want to recalculate the toolpaths after changing the datum.

I do this all the time, my default for designing is the centre of the material because it makes a lot of operations so much easier BUT for output for the machine I always use the lower left corner
As has been said easy enough to do, once you have opened the job set up, changed the xy position & clicked OK the warning about changes pops up so clicking apply will recalculate all the toolpaths for you
