Lost 3D model
Lost 3D model
I made the box shown in he photo a number of years ago. I want to make another but I can't find my original file or the 3D model that I need. What I need is the model for the border. There are a few similar one available but I would prefer to use the one I had previously.
I would appreciate some help.
Thanks in advance,
Phil

Re: Lost 3D model
You may be able to go back into the original CRV file that you did a few years ago and get the model from there.

The weave looks like Weave12-i
The twists in the rope are really far apart, none of the rope clipart matches.
I even tried the oval and made it round to see if it would lengthen each twist.
Have you tried using the individual twist in the rope clipart and strech it out to make the twist similar?
Then create the rope from your altered individual twist.
I think it is Copy Along Vectors.

close, but not exact, without dimensions hard to match.

Re: Lost 3D model
twists too fat, but close
Custom link in order I think, just use clipart twist as an example on how to make a link.
Rounder too, I think I like your version of the rope best.
Going to have to experiment.
It "looks" more rope like.

I also looked at the Rope borders in the Aspire clipart folder - no luck.

Re: Lost 3D model
If you decide to make your own, the "Extrude and Weave" tool works the best. I used the single rope link from the clipart for this example. Rotate the link before extruding for different effects.

Re: Lost 3D model
best one yet!!
OK I can't stop, turn off sweep between spans.
Different way to create zig zag, but twice as many links as he wanted.
twists and relative length appear to be "perfect" IMNSHO

Thanks for the help, gentlemen. Much more than I asked for, wonderful. I made a model too. This was a two rail sweep model with an underlying ring.

I’m intrigued, could you show us your drive rails and profile vector?

Re: Lost 3D model
I modeled the initial component using the create shape tool. Next I used the circular array x28. I made the underlying ring with the create shape tool. I had tried the two rail sweep in some test attempts but it wasn't the best way.
