"insufficient memory available to perform operation"
"insufficient memory available to perform operation"
Hi,
Trying to do something simple, but keep running into aspire errors.
I am trying to import a 140k STL file (attached in a zip file, as apparently we can't upload STL files) and 'bake' the component into the piece of wood. I keep getting a memory error as you can see in the screenshot below. I have no other toolpaths, vectors, or bitmaps - literally, just this STL file. The machine itself has 64 gigs of memory, so I know it's not the machine. Any ideas?
running on the latest version of Aspire - 11.016
Any thoughts or help would be appreciated, thank you!

Re: "insufficient memory available to perform operation"
You do realize that the model is in millimetres? If you don’t import as mm you get an object that is 1237 inches (103 feet) long.
When I imported this into VCarve 9.519 accounting for mm (clicking mm on the import screen) there was no problem. Importing it in as 1237 inches and it gave an out of memory error.

Looks like adze_cnc has got this covered but it is worth knowing that memory errors aren't always down to the amount of ram fitted in a computer, some are related to hard disk space rather than ram

Not that is should be 1237 inches, but I was able to import without the error in 11.016
My machine has 64GB of RAM

Re: "insufficient memory available to perform operation"
What are you trying to do when you have the Component Properties open? The settings you have shown don't relate to the item as imported and I'm not sure what you mean by you're trying "to bake the component into the piece of wood".

Not sure why you were having problems, after reading ohiolyons post about importing it in at 1237 inches I just tried on my laptop which only has 8 gig of RAM & it imported pretty quickly without any problems so there may be something else going on with your set up

Re: "insufficient memory available to perform operation"
Its not the importing that he's having issues with as far as I can see. He's doing something with the Component Properties (not sure what hence my question) after it's been imported (note that it's in the component list at this stage) and that's when it's failing.martin54 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 18, 2022 2:31 pmNot sure why you were having problems, after reading ohiolyons post about importing it in at 1237 inches I just tried on my laptop which only has 8 gig of RAM & it imported pretty quickly without any problems so there may be something else going on with your set up

Don't know if this is the issue, but when I downloaded and looked at John's CRV version of the file, the model component for the landing gear top was about 36" thick. Like to see the CNC with the Z that could cut that!

Re: "insufficient memory available to perform operation"
For those who imported the model as inches: go to the component tree and click “Bake”. That’s where I got the error.
I’m not I really sure that I understand the point of baking a single stl model. It’s my mental model of that command that its intent is to take 2 or more objects and fuse them together into one.
