Making a circle tangent to an existing angles line

Post by wbollig2 »

I have an EXISTING 45 degree line and I draw a circle next to it. I then want to make the line and circle tangent. Can't find any posts about moving a circle to become tangent to an existing line. Thanks

draw a line from the center of the circle perpendicular to the existing line and intersect them.

Select the circle (double click). Move your cursor over the intersection of the line you constructed and the existing circle. A snap icon will appear. Drag until you get another snap icon where the two lines intersect.

Interestingly enough, I looked to see if this was possible via a command in my other design software. Nope.

Similar to TReischl's method. This is a drag and drop method that only works with a 45 degree line.
