Help converting an old file

Post by Rod Williamson »

I have an old file that I made in Aspire 4 many years ago. I no longer have Aspire, but have the new version of V Carve Pro. I was hoping someone could convert the file to use in V Carve. If that's possible, I'd attach it to a PM. Thanks

Anyone else able to help? I got the file from Rod via DropBox, opened it without problem in Aspire 11.008. Then I tried a straight save to CRV, but the Component didn't save. Then I tried a DXF export, but when opened in VCarve, it was blank. Then I tried an Component Clip export as 3dClip. No joy there either.

The file is for a baked single-component chair seat with some additional 2.5D areas.

Someone with more experience?

your vcarve version will have to match what ever version of aspire converts it to a crv.

the components (models) if any will have to be exported as a STL, you would then have to import that STL.

I'm not sure if you can import a .3DClip file but here is a link.

3dclip only work with Aspire. That is why I said export as a STL from Aspire and Import the STL in Vcarve.

Well then here the link to a .stl file. All of my clipart files that came with the program have a .3dClip extension so I just assumed V-carve can read them.

Steve:

Outstanding. Thanks very much. It works as an import in V Carve. I appreciate it very much.
