Urn for a Friend

Post by mfirlott »

I have a young friend and former employee, only in his mid-forties, who has been battling cancer for the last year and a half and is currently not doing so well. He is trying to put some of his affairs in order and one of those was to select a cremation urn. He came to me as he has always admired my work and asked me to build him one with some basic designs he had in mind.

The build is mostly walnut with some cherry for the inlay and columns.

The inlay is the Tree of Life with his name engraved in the center. The columns lay at a 45 degree angle to the urn.

The bottom has a flush mount 'door' so ashes can be placed within by simply using the 4 screws there.

The front is left blank as he plans to mount a brass plaque with his photo and text.

He's doing a quick trip to Hawaii with his wife right now and will pick it up upon his return.

I am honored that he asked me to do this for him.

Another Fantastic bit of work from you, sure on his return he will feel he made the right choice asking you to make this for him, must be very mixed emotions for you though, Happy he asked you to do the work & sad that you will be losing a friend.
