When was there a UGM on the East Coast?
How far from a coastliine is the Coast?
  • 2007 - Monessen, PA (effectively Pittsburgh)
  • 2008 - probably none
  • 2009 - Pittsburgh, PA and Dallas, TX
  • 2010 - Memphis, TN
  • 2011 - Las Vegas, NV
  • 2012 - Cincinnati, OH
  • 2013 - Las Vegas, NV
  • 2014 - Orlando, FL
  • 2015 - Las Vegas, NV
  • 2016 - Oralando, FL
  • 2017 - Las Vegas, NV
  • 2018 - Chicago, IL
  • 2019 - Denver, CO
  • 2020 - no physical meetup
  • 2021 - no physical meetup
  • 2022 - San Diego, CA
The UK folks have it easy as it is said that there is no place farther away from the coast than 70 miles (113 kilometres)
Orlando, Pennsy, maybe Ohio, but I cannot afford airplanes or hotels and lodging anymore. I would LOVE to attend at least once in my lifetime. I keep mentioning Boston - Northeast USA. Because there are a lot of users up here and Boston or New England would be a BEAUTIFUL fall event. And I would be able to attend. A bit selfish, but I am not the only northeast member that would appreciate it. Besides England is actually smaller than New England - and Boston is beautiful - and New England in Fall is really beautiful.

Just a little perspective on the Vectric user group meetings and how they were started. The very first one was not Vectric initiated. It was initiated by a gentleman named Jim, from Ohio who floated the idea about possibly getting together in the region, for discussing the V carve pro software. Originally hoped to get 12 to 15 people interested, I offered my shop in Monessen Pa to use ( about 22 miles south of Pittsburgh) Vectric did not think that a lot of interest would be generated at the time. However, as time progressed, more and more folks from across the US inquired on attending. It was eventually moved to a church basement in Donora Pa, about 2 miles from Monessen. A 1 day event was held with Tony from Vectric and James Booth (not formally with Vectric at the time) on the upcomming changes and additions coming to the Vectric software. Close to 90 individuals attended. An icebreaker was held at a local restrurant the night before, where everyone got together and got to know one another a little bit. I believe Vectric V carve was on version 3 or 4 at the time. Aspire was not on the public radar at the time, their other software was Photo v carve and cut 3d. James Booth had his own company that offeded 3D models, and he also had a program that would enable us to download models purchased from his site to be carved in vectric software. The other 3D software available at the time was Art Cam which cost around $9000 to buy. Needless to say, a good time was had by all, and so it continues! Jim from Ohio, I hope all is doing well, I havent heard from you in a while.

Hi Bob,

Thank you so much for taking the time to explain how these events came around. It really is fantastic to be part of such a passionate community.

I know I speak on behalf of the entire Vectric team when I say how much we enjoy these events, it means a lot to us to hear all about how the software is being used and see some of the incredible projects created in the software.

Have a great day.
Stephanie

I hosted a meet and greet a few years ago in Massachusetts.

We did have a great time, good attendance.

Perhaps it's time for another round in New England in the fall - but not this year.

Maybe Vectric will show some interest????

Hi Leo,

Thanks for the extra info :)

Approximately how many people did you have at your meeting and did you host it personally or in a local hotel?

As promised last year, we are planning to host an online User Group Meeting next year in 2023 (dates TBC) but we'll be looking for potential venues for 2024 too.

Thanks
Stephanie

I hosted it in my yard. I asked for donations to cover my costs mostly for food / drinks. No hotels, attendees attended to their own.

Stephanie,
I should have tickets from the 2020 UG, but I don't see tickets in my entitlements. Please can you verify I'm good to attend.
Thank you very much,
Ian Martin
