Rough Dish Edges in Preview

Post by dakmonf »

I am designing a 18" x 59" sign that includes 2 dished 6.5" 3d models. The resolution is set to maximum (50x) and yet the dishes have rough edges in the preview. When I take the same models in a separate file on a job size set to the model size, the preview is perfect. On the larger job, will the edges come out rough as shown in the preview (do not want to ruin the job) or am I incorrect in assuming this?
If the edges will come out as it is in the preview, how do I correct the issue?

You need to post the file.

Did you use a zero plane?

What Preview Simulation Quality are you using?

No great surprise individual models look much better.
The available pixels are spread over the entire job.
So if your dishes are small compared to the overall size of the sign they are not getting many of the 50x resolution.

Hard to give an exact answer without seeing the file.

John, yes I forgot to mention that I did. I believe I solved my issue. I baked and smoothed the models and all seems to be fine now.

Great!

I always seem to figure things out shortly after I post a question on the forum too.
