Hi. I am triyng to make some poker chip holders and after i model them the finishing pass leave some strange lines.
i am modeling them using sweeping between 2 rail vectors, using a half circle as the cross secion to sweep.
i habe the zero plane in the model. attach are a couple of images, the meassurments of the model are the same but the lines apear more heavy on some carvings. i am using a .24 flat end mill for the roughing pass and a .25 ball nose for the finishing pass
i apreciate all the the help.
thanks

Re: z carving leaving some strange lines
Possible causes:
- your material is actually thicker than you told Aspire
- on the toolpaths tab check the material setup to see if your model is at the top of Aspire’s material block
Re: z carving leaving some strange lines
Hi. thanks for replying.
the material is 25mm as i set it up and the material set up in the toolpath i set on top of the material.
also it is not constant in some cases the line is lower and in some others the line is almost at the top.

Re: z carving leaving some strange lines
Try using a boundary offset of at least half of the tool diameter.

Re: z carving leaving some strange lines
Instead of using your machine limit vector boundaries that are 4mm away from the model, try creating vector boundaries around the models and use them for the roughing and finishing toolpaths.

Re: z carving leaving some strange lines
The toolpath preview looks OK so the problem most likely lies with the machine, the material or the control software/post processor.
Is the material flat or is it bowed at all?
Have you checked that your machine is trammed correctly?

Hi, i am using a 6.35 (.25 inch) bit and i made a boundary offset of 4mm ad thst is the result in the photos.SteveNelson46 wrote: ↑Sun Sep 12, 2021 1:27 amTry using a boundary offset of at least half of the tool diameter.
i will try to increse the offset.
thanks

Hi. the material is flat i just resurface the top before this proyect. The machine is trammed ok, i will try to use the Avid post processor.
thanks
