Project 3d shape/texture to a nonplaner surface
I am trying to project a 3d shape onto a slightly curved surface. Is there a way for aspire to handle this? I have tried what little options I know in Aspire to get the effect I want, but have had no luck. I thought I might be able to use a texture to apply it to a surface, but no luck so far. The solid I am trying to project is an object I imported. Basically, I want the text of the top surface of the model to follow the slight curve of the surface I created in Aspire. Hope that makes sense and thanks in advance for any suggestions.

If you use a combine mode of "add" on the 3d object on top, does that not give you what you want?

that is the exact effect I want. Can you do that with a texture you create or a solid (stl) you import?

If it's a component in Aspire you can do that. An stl becomes a component after import.

can you wrap the solid from my file around the shape you created?
Admittedly I do not have much Aspire experience. Really appreciate the help.

In both Aspire and VCarve Pro (not sure about VCarve non-pro) in the Toolpath Settings, look for a checkbox near the bottom of the panel labelled "Project tool path onto 3D model". Check that, make sure the desired artifacts are selected, and it should do what you want.
Edit: I haven't tried this myself except with a 2D projection onto a 3D component.

yeah when I look at the 3d toolpath in vcarve, I don't have that option. I think that is only for 2d items unfortunatelyjfederer wrote: ↑Fri Sep 10, 2021 8:51 pmIn both Aspire and VCarve Pro (not sure about VCarve non-pro) in the Toolpath Settings, look for a checkbox near the bottom of the panel labelled "Project tool path onto 3D model". Sadly I can't look at your file as it was written by the trial version of Aspire and can't be opened by anyone else.

As dealguy11 has already said, no one but you will be able to open your file. Vectric support probably can so sending it to them might be an option for you

Re: Project 3d shape/texture to a nonplaner surface
i was going to try to send it in vcarve because I have a license but I can't get the size small enough.
if I can save it as a vcarve file with a component would you be able to open the component in aspire? If that would work I could email it to one of you? if you want to DM me your email address?
Thanks!

Ben - I sent you a couple of emails. Gmail has been sending my mails to people's spam folders, so if you don't get it, look there. Also would be nice if you would mark it "not spam" so that gmail gets the message.
