windows 7 64 bit /32 bit and aspire 11.00

Post by stankern »

my cnc machine is 2007-2008 vintage working well with xp under aspire 10.** (thoughts of aspire 11.00)
because of the headaches I upgraded my OS to windows 7 but because of the post processor its windows 7
32 bit
And I also heard that aspire 11.00 would not work in 32 bit, but I thought I would try it and the computer is not connected to
the net.
I first loaded aspire 11.003 and it worked fine, then I loaded 11.006 and aspire would not run and with the 11.007 patch same thing
so I backed off and again just loaded aspire 11.003 and left it alone , all working fine
in summary at least I got that far
other computers win7 64 bit worked fine

what post processor are you using that will only work on a 32 bit platform? I wasn't aware of there being any difference with the post processors.
Might be worth checking again to see if you can run the computer with a 64 bit OS

My control computer runs windows 7 & is not connected to the internet but it doesn't have any software installed other than the CNC control software, If I am at the workshop I always have my laptop with me & make any changes on that & just use a USB stick to load into control computer

Post processors aren't depend on 32 bit or 64 bit. They are all the same as far as I am aware. Perhaps you're thinking of Mach3 itself?

Hello Stan

I have seen post here and we here at support@vectric would like to look into this issue further with you.

I will be contacting you via your registered email with some steps we would like you to take as our Dev team thinks there may be small amount of customers who may have issues installing version 11.006 and 11.007 and we would like to build a full picture of the problem that effects these users so we can fix things in an upcoming release.

Thanks

Chris

As Adrian has mentioned are you talking about the mach3 control software itself rather than a post processor?
What sort of motion control are you using? I haven't used mach3 for quite some time now but I thought the running on a 32bit system was only required if you were using it under parallel port control & if using a USB or ethernet controller then it was OK on a 64 bit platform.
You could check that on the mach support site
My last control computer was a 32 bit machine but I don't have any software installed on that other than the CNC control software, don't really see the point of having Vectric software installed on it as it's easy enough to make changes on my laptop which is always with me when I am at the workshop

Hi all, if you could please check for the latest update (11.008), you will have a fix for the startup issue, but if it still persists, please let us know. Thank you!

You could also try your portal account, that should have the latest version of the software so just download it, put on a USB stick & take to your offline computer

Not quite as easy as just downloading the patch & saving that to a USB stick but it does still work

Just to add, do you have a computer that has the software on it that is connected to the internet? When you install the patch on a connected computer the patch is also saved to a folder on the computer, sorry can't remember which one but you can then save the patch file to a USB stick for instalation on your offline computer,

my cnc machine has no internet access
but on the bright side i went from a working copy of aspire 11.03 to (which is all that would work)
to loading the 11.008 patch and it worked fine, now updated
Thanks a lot
That download link is gold to me as i always have trouble on the portal finding the patches or upgrades
to download to a usb stick
Really appreciate this

my cnc machine has no internet access

My Desktop computer at my workshop doesn't have internet access either but I have a design computer at home that does have internet connection. The software is installed on both machines & the one at home can be updated in the normal way, the one at the workshop I update by saving the patch to a USB drive & taking it with me
