Video Card

Post by mezalick »

Does the Vectric software use the video card within the compute for anything?
What are the best computer setup for effective and efficient use of the software.
Thanks

Michael, I have never seen the Video Co-processor in use by VCarve Pro. I use a Surface Book 2 with 2 video processors, but only the built-in one is used. I have seen other references on this forum saying the same thing. So I think the best combination is a fast main processor chip and lots of RAM (16 GB or more). An SSD of course makes a huge difference as well, but that isn't an issue on most computers these days.

Vectric does not use any Video card/GPU acceleration (Open GL, DirectX, etc.) in Aspire or VCarve. Pull up Task Manager, do a preview of a CNC job and start spinning the 3D image around. Your CPU will go nuts and cooling fans will probably kick on.
