Aspire 11 opening .dxf or .ai files

Post by nestor »

Aspire V.11 opening .dxf or .ai files from Windows Explorer takes 5 minutes compared to V10.5
Opening .crv3d is a breeze, only non-native file formats take this long...
Is the program not optimized or did I fumble my install?

Is it the same file you're trying to open? I haven't noticed any difference when importing dxf files.

I am trying multiple different files, all have the problem
when opening directly from aspire then there is no issue.. however 'open with' aspire.exe in the File Explorer is what causes this slow load time

a workaround exists, opening from the application instead of file explorer, I might try reinstall.

I don't usually open them that way but I've just tried it and, allowing for the second or so to actually load Aspire up, it's the same time to open that way or import into an existing job for me.

DXF file often have converted arc/circles to multiple short vectors, which greatly increases the file size compared to Aspire/VCarve file that used arcs/circles. If the file source is a USB 2.0 drive then that can multiply the time it takes to open such files. Just speaking from experience dealing with a few thousand student files over the last decade or so. I generally copy USB sourced files to my PC's hard drive before opening them for quicker response times.
