A test of How did they do that
So I was watchin a FB post from Quint Signs, ( https://fb.watch/7aJY4IaIVt/ ). Watch the video before you try to solve the problem.
They appear to be doing a Profile toolpath on lettering with a model underneath a texture.
So I used a texture from clipart. Added text and converted to vectors.
I did a Roughing and Finish toolpath on the texture only, excluding the text.
I then did a Profile toolpath on the text vectors, zero depth, projected on 3d model.
It works partially, but not like the video.
They do use Aspire.
I have posted a FB comment on how do you do this and they haven't responded yet.

Project to 3D doesn't make that surface the bottom of the cut but rather the top of the cut, How about a profile toolpath cutting 0.001 inches (0.025 mm) deep—basically no appreciable depth of cut—projected to the 3D?

0.001 worked better, but still not the same as on the video.

Or even zero depth (zero start depth, zero depth of cut). You don't need any depth to run a profile pass.

I always worry about the potential for divide by zero errors.

Turns out
start depth 0.000 cut depth 0.000 project on 3d model
and
start depth 0.000 cut depth 0.001 project on 3d model
yield very similar results
The verticals on the H are not behaving as the video, the vertical on the left side of the E is.
the up and down movement all the curved parts are incorrect too.
In the video the up and down toolpath on the left hand side of E is the way all letters should be.

EDIT tab, scroll down to and select Options, then scroll DropTool Under the Toolpaths Settings subheading.
Mine was set to Yes and changed to No
The result now looks like the motion in the video.

It is actually working exactly opposite of what the manual states with my limited understanding.
I think I know what the toolpath means, but what is the project. Is it the model? How does the project and model differ?
I just know it looks like the video when you set it to No.

"Project" as a verb not a noun.
would better be written as:When projecting a toolpath on the model, drop the tool on the surface rather than project.
Even that is confusing without an understanding of what the real difference between "drop" and "project" is. i.e. in one case you are "projecting by dropping" and in the other you are "projecting by projecting".When projecting a toolpath on the model, drop the tool on the surface rather than project the tool to the surface.

Still confusing to me, but saved that manual clip to desktop so I can play with it and preview the cuts.
