Scott 55
I went up to visit Scott on Friday. Wish we had all day.
You all have absolutely just how amazing Scott is. All I can say is that I cannot say what I experienced in a far too short of a visit.
I will be paying far more attention to what Scott says from now on - for sure.
I have never seen so much massively COOL and highly details artwork and More - Far more - in all my life. Scotts array of of collections of art in all shapes and forms is absolutely amazing.
Scott challenged me to dig DEEPER. I will take the challenge.
MUST visit Scott again - and again. What a treat!!
Thank you kindly Scott.

Re: Scott 55
Scott,
The tree I was looking at, in your living room - had 3 of the same tree but done with different settings. I thought I had that model, but no. I really like that one.
Where did you find that tree?

Awesome. What a treat to be able to visit the Master of all things tiny and detailed! Scott has a knack for bringing out the fine detail and isn't afraid to share it with everyone.

WOW Leo!
I'm going to have to buy all new hats with my swelled head!
I really enjoyed you and your wife's visit, and visitors are Always welcome with some notice!
GLAD you didn't mention that literally every horizontal surface is Covered with wood and stone,
and every surface higher than my wheelchair vision is probably Covered with dust!
(I went around for 2 days before you got here with the shotgun killing the biggest Dust Bunnies:)
My Aunt with OCD literally can't spend more than 5 minutes in the house, and takes Hours to recover!
It's just a bunch of stone and wood that only a bachelor can get away with.
You're welcome back anytime(and thanks for masking up which is a pain).
Thanks for the comments John and Dave!!
I'm sure this is the one you're talking about; The left one is the first bigger ones I ever did when VCP8 made 3D so much easier!
Almost qualified me as a Knucklehead at 19:48:00 cutting time:)
The right one was the first time I used a boundary vector.
I had to go back and search Shopbot Forum to make sure who I bought that from.
For a Long thread when I first started 3D;
http://www.talkshopbot.com/forum/showth ... -therapy-)
And it confirmed that it was Newstyle27 on EBay(back when EBay models cost $7-35),
and he stopped selling his models when they started to get stolen and went into silver casting them.
He was a really nice guy, and when Cowboy wanted JUST the Tree, he broke it down into components and sent him everything(and gave permission to send it to me:). A shame he's no longer available! Maybe someone has seen his model somewhere else??
Here's the graphic of the Tree with diamonds and oak leaf border I bought for$27; Hopefully someone will recognize it or similar models!
scott
Oh Leo....tried faster settings on that Tiny I was air cutting while you were here.
Because it's only 1.3X1.7" 3D... my machine really can't get up to increased speeds and settings:(
Only managed to get up to saving 3 minutes each....and machine was getting jerky in movement.
So going back to the speeds you saw in the air cut that I know cut well in Bloodwood.
3 minutes isn't worth pushing the machine.
Thanks again People!!
Visit anytime:)

Excellent work, Scott! Always a joy to see that fine detail you achieve on your carvings!
BTW, I got my 2 Lobster Rolls last week, while in Maine. “Only” $14 each!

Re: Scott 55
Mike $14 for a Lobsta roll is a decent price. No H on the end of Lobsta cause I am in Mass not Maine but the Lobsta is the same.

Re: Scott 55
I did not find THAT one, but I did find some really cool trees and other things.
It's not only about the tree that intriqued my but also the collection of Firewood. Firewood? Errr, maybe take a different perspective on that. What was at one time maybe considered firewood to some one was rescued and transformed by Scott into something that an artist would cringe at the notion of burning. I NEED to go into my backyard and do that. Find and transform a chunk of tree into a piece of ART.

Re: Scott 55
Someone bought the land that had my favorite blueberry spot, and has posted no trespassing, so that’s that (no blueberries or raspberries were spotted this year anyway, so none to pick - first time in years that there were no berries ready at Madagascal this time of year).
The only wildlife we saw were Eagles, Osprey, Bass and of course, Loons! Oh, and hardly any bugs!!

Re: Scott 55
Today, we took out some family to out 2-nd to favorite seafood restaurant in Fairhaven Ma. We had a good time. We had Fish and Chips, and Scallops. All fresh from New Bedford. Scallops are to New Bedford what Lobsta is to Maine. But we have Lobsta as well.
I looked out in the back yard a little while ago and I have a TON of cool and interesting stuff out there just laying around waiting to be harvested.
My house is NEVER going to get finished on the siding this way.

Re: Scott 55
Shame about no berry picking this year Michael.
It's a year of weather records, and that may be it.
In recorded weather, #2 in least snow in March,#2 in hottest/driest June, and #2 in wettest July.
And even moderate drought affects the 2 beekeepers I know, so maybe no pollination? At least you got your lobster fix for the year:)
Ospreys and Loons:)
Loon Scene on D&M was one of my first models after Moose Scene 5.
Leo, It'll keep you busy, and you Never know what and where you'll use the wood.
This was a firewood piece I'd pretty much given up on, and then turned into a perfect present. And this was the shattered end piece of a Sugar Maple blow down I almost didn't bother to surface.
Turned out to be the back side of Shaman. Just goes to show, that you never know.
You can look at a piece of funky wood for years, then you see a model...
next thing you know you're digging for a piece, and measuring it for a model.
If you don't have the wood, then you don't have as many options for a funky finished piece.
Finish the siding....after the sap stops is the best time to cut usually anyways to have tight bark.

Scott, This thread is reminding me that I need to get back over to see you...been to many years for sure...I finally retired last month from making other people rich and will be spending more time in the shop and out shooting wildlife (with my camera). Looking forward to picking your brain on "small" carving.
