Seems like I am missing something simple. I have done this dozens of times successfully, but can't make this particular situation work
Goal: two models carved near the surface of the material so that there is about 3/8" of thickness below (behind) the carved models.
Material Size 12 x 32 x .75 (inches) with Z Zero on the machine bed
Import 2 Design and Make models, one goes on each 1/2 of the material
Set model height to 0.4"
Set Base Height to 0.3"
Create vector around each model
Select vectors around models
Set distance above model to 0.
Create a finishing tool path
use boundary offset of .125"
Offset Strategy
Stepover retract 0-0.1" (number here makes no difference in the position of the model)
Calculate tool path
Preview Tool Path
Model is cut at the bottom of the material rather than at the top.
Doesn't make a difference if I use the Combine or Add Mode.
Same problem exists if I change the model height to .25 and the Base Height to .25. The cut goes thru the material
Tried to upload the file, but I get message that the file is too big (16MB)
Thoughts, comments and instruction gratefully accepted.
Thanks

Re: Model Position in Material
Yes I did. the models are listed at the top of the material.

Re: Model Position in Material
Hmmm, did you actually set the Z zero to the machine bed and set it that way in the software?

If the file is too large to upload here you can use a file sharing site such as drive.google.com, onedrive.com, or dropbox.com. They all have free accounts availableTried to upload the file, but I get message that the file is too big (16MB)
- Upload the file to the file sharing site
- Make the link shareable
- Share the link to the file here

I'm a dropbox novice, but I don't think you shared the correct link.
