Peck Drilling not retracting

Post by cgeldert »

I cannot seem to get my peck toolpath to retract. I have tried retract above starting depth and retract above height of previous pass. I hope the fix is simple, but I cannot figure out why it will not retract. I have confirmed the file preview by running the tool path (in the air) and it does not retract. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I am using 9.591 Thank you.

Show a screenshot of your settings, or at least show what amount you entered into the "retract above" box

Why do you think that you need the "Project toolpath on to 3D model" option checked? This is why there is no retracting.

I got to the point where I am clicking boxes to see if something will change it. Unfortunately having that box unchecked gives me the same result, which is essential a plunge drill to full depth. I originally did not have that box checked.

I also have reverted to using a earlier version of 9 and still am getting the same results.

What have you got the Pass depth of your cutter set to I think this has to set in accordance to Peck drilling.

I’m glad you don’t work in a munitions factory.

To the person who asked about pass depth: check the image—the answer is there.

Perhaps it’s time to post a file containing the toolpath that failed? From here on in people will be posting wild guesses without something tangible.

The toolpath runs as per the toolpath preview. Attached is file, which is just a straight plunge.

I stand corrected the file seems to be working on the machine. I will run a full test. I slowed down the preview as slow as possible and it was not showing any retract. Thank you to everyone who replied, much appreciated.
