Adaptive Clearing strategy in Aspire 11?

Post by PRO4824 »

I used some other software for a while before finally deciding that Vectric Aspire was the best option and the "only" thing I miss is the Adaptive Clearing. It was just amazing.
If that toolpath strategy could be incorporated into Aspire 11, I wouldn't miss anything about the other software.

Adaptive clearing was just a fancy way of saying a roughing pass. Aspire has roughing and finishing pass.

sounds like other software. Adaptive clearing was just a fancy way of saying a roughing pass. Aspire has roughing and finishing pass.
Hardly. Adaptive clearing is not just a fancy way of saying a roughing pass. Far from it. It is faster and it extends the life of the tool. Google it.

I agree with the OP.

I like adaptive clearing and would welcome it to Vectric.

It is FAR from just a rough cutting cycle.

+1

There are several advanced tool pathing strategies that would be a major addition to Aspire.

We use some other software on our mills and could use it on the router but Vectric is just a lot easier for 99% of our use cases.

I used the other software for a while and just loved the adaptive clearing. Nothing like watching an end mill spiral in to full depth and then clear out the pocket using the entire length to side mill the material. It annoys me to no end to realize that I rarely use more than half the diameter of the tool length. What a waste.

I'll add another +1 to this thread. I enjoy adaptive clearing so much I frequently hard code it when the opportunity looks worth it. I also frequently am cutting tenons on the end of stretchers and it is far more efficient to step in from the sides using the entire bit than step down using just the bottom 1/8" or so at a time. Be nice if Aspire was clever enough to realize when such an opportunity presented itself and could provide such a toolpath option.

Yes please! That means the full depth pocketing.
I simulate that quite often with concentric subsequent profile tool paths but that works mostly for circular pockets.

I'm kind of chuckling at some of these posts because this strategy was asked for many years ago, before it was labeled adaptive clearing, and some of the same people asking for it now then scoffed at it.

I hope so because mine changes all the time

I don't really know that much about toolpath strategies but if this is something that would be of benefit to me then I would be another +1

No, otherwise we dig through any and all posts you have made since the beginning of the internet and then we cancel you.

BTW, I never ever change my mind. I just do what the voices in my wife's head tell me to do, problem is they change their mind like most people change socks.
