I have tried using a pocket path to rough out around a raised model so that i only have to run the tiny finishing on the model itself, with a small boundary offset, but even though i used the exact height of the model as the depth for the pocketing the finish pass goes very slightly deeper and leaves an outline around the model.
What am i doing wrong ? Shouldn't the depths match up ?
Also, it sure would be nice to not have the lines from the bit i used to pocket, it's a very good bit, the Amana 46248-K 1/4" upcut. 40% stepover and the wood is Maple.

Re: 3D roughing and Finishing question
If you hover over your finish tool path it will show you how deep it is exactly cutting, Then your pocketing tool path set to that should match.

gee i think i might have done that once before, and forgot to keep doing it !
