Yup,
I'm always interested in joints. Nice ideas!

Well, there seems to be some interest and I will start working on that program. I guess it may take a week or two or maybe three...

If you just want to copy my wagon wheel in the meantime, you can download the .crv files here (use "hub", "spokes" and "rim").

I learned a couple of new techniques just with a casual glance at these files! Thanks!

BTW, I'm still using MazeMaker regularly. People seem to like the wooden mazes.

Great! I am impressed. I looked at the files again and I don't understand myself completely what I did there some 4 years ago

I did one of those carts about 3-years ago, but I can't remember where I got the files. I gave it to my sister who uses it as a planter in her backyard. She lives in Arizona, so it fit right in.

Cool, that is my cart with some modifications. Great to see that the files have been of use to somebody.

I made some good progress with the software. Actually, since I now figured out how to calculate the interlocking curves I will also try to add an option to generate the vectors for a real puzzle (i.e. one where you have to puzzle the pieces together) with somewhat randomized lobes. It may be more something for laser cutting than routing but I am having a great time figuring that out

I bought your Tailmaker and Fingermaker software, and while I haven't had the opportunity to put it to good use (laziness on my part), I would love to see something along the lines of what you are looking at creating, and will definitely purchase it, or send you a few bucks, to pay you for your time and effort.

I'm looking forward to seeing what you come up with!

I guess I can hold the 2 week schedule. I did add an option of generating a "real" puzzle toy pattern with randomized joint parameters.
It can be generated with spacing (as shown below) for a router or without spacing between elements for a laser cut.
Here an early teaser:

The user interface:

Vectors as imported into Aspire or VcarvePro:

Cutout simulation:

Now...dont ask me about work holding that many small pieces for routing or how to indentify them after they get mixed up. Maybe I should get a laser attachment, after all.

An interesting application for this may be to use your wood scrap pieces to make a quilted board, e.g. for a table top.

Over the years I have made letters interconnected with puzzle type joints,
And I have taken pictures and made puzzles, all on the laser
but this looks much better
I could easily see doing new things with this.

Great job

Will there be an option for Imperial measurements?

The app is actually agnostic about units of measure. Whatever the number is supposed to be, e.g. inches or millimeters or nautical miles will be exported in the .dxf as such. As long as you set the importing CAM to your desired units you should be good.

I did an experiment with a rather large jigsaw puzzle design today (2500 pieces). It did take a few minutes to calculate and created a a .dxf file with over 52,000 open line and arc vectors. When importing into Aspire I first thought it had crashed the system but after some 15 minutes of cranking, Aspire came back with the whole set and could actually weld all the snippets to 2500 closed outline vectors.
