Older .crv3r files
Older .crv3r files
I have a lot of .crv3d files I made using Aspire 8.0. I'm using Aspire 10.0 now and it will not open my older files. How can I convert these older .crv3d files to files I can use with Aspire 10.0?

Re: Older .crv3r files
Hi Gene,
I can open any and all older crv3d files (going back to version 2.x Aspire) with any and all newer versions of Aspire, so I’m puzzled why you cannot.
Can you please upload one example of a crv3d file you have that won’t open (or provide a DropBox link if the file is too large to upload here).
We can then try opening your example file to see if we have the same issue with it.
Thanks in advance!

Re: Older .crv3r files
Gene,
I just had a thought...
Are you using the File/Open procedure in the version 10 Aspire when attempting to open your older files? If so, then that should work just fine.
However, if you are trying to open the file via double-clicking on the file, then it won’t open unless you have updated your file association to “open with” Aspire 10
I’m wondering if that’s what’s going on. Perhaps the file association is looking for version 8, not finding it, then fails to open.

Re: Older .crv3r files
When I try to open older files I get a pop-up that says there is a 'code 126663' error.

Re: Older .crv3r files
Hi Gene,
Did you create those older files yourself with a fully licensed version of Aspire (not a Demo version of the software) and successfully cut them previously?
Are the files in question located/stored on your computer hard drive? (NOT on a USB thumb drive)
I still want to see an actual crv3d file that is giving you trouble. Can you provide that, please?

Re: Older .crv3r files
I have the download for Aspire 8.5 on my HD but I don't know the license code to install it, so I can't get it to run.
Re: Older .crv3r files
I tried to send the .crv3d file but get a pop-up that says the file is to large to send. is a away other that sending an attachment?

Hi Gene,
It’s getting a little “confusing” for me, I’m sorry to say. I think you will want to contact Vectric directly on this issue.
Here is their email contact: support@vectric.com

Thanks. I get with vectric. I've been using Aspire for at least six or seven years.

Yes, you’ve been around quite awhile, Gene!
I hope Support can help you sort out why those older files won’t open for you.

Re: Older .crv3r files
Hi mtylerfl,
Yesterday I send support an email but I guess the CORVID lockdown in England has everone out of their office.
I send an attachment of one of my .crv3d files that Aspire 10.5 will not open. And what Aspire 10.5 shows when I open the .crv3d files. See what you can do to open it.

Re: Older .crv3r files
Unfortunately there's nothing anyone here can do about that it's only Vectric that have access to open a file that has that error message.
I can see that the licensing information isn't complete for whatever reason so the software marks it as an illegal file.

Re: Older .crv3r files
Is Aspire 8 or 8.5 showing in your portal account? If either of them are then the licence code for them should be in your portal account with them
Re: Older .crv3r files
I'm not sure where to find "portal account". Could you give me some directions where to look?
