strange pocket behavior
I'm trying to clear off material so that I have 1 3/16" left. I use pocket tool path and 2 bits, 1.5" and .25" For some reason the 1.5" bit is not respecting the vector I chose or the material boundary. I've tried reordering the bits, deleting the paths and redoing them.
Had to zip the crv3d file.- Attachments

Re: strange pocket behavior
There are a couple of problematic nodes causing issues (overlaps/intersections) here. One is on the vertical line to the right and one is at the left of the curved section at the bottom. Deleting those two nodes should fix the problem.

SWEET
I was trying to figure it out, but didn't look at the nodes. Those nodes at first look didn't even look like a problem. I cleaned it up and it calculated just fine.

Mark,
How did you find the node issue on the bottom left curved section? Vector Validator doesn't show that problem only the Overlap on the vertical right vector.

Where is "vector validator"? I cannot find that.

Re: strange pocket behavior
John,
You're right Vector Validator didn't find that one for some reason, but when fixing the one on the right didn't solve the problem I suspected there to be another one somewhere. To be honest I just used trial and error moving the nodes (there aren't so many) around until I found one with a near neighbour, used undo and zoomed in .

Thanks Mark,
Figured that's what it came down to. Would have been a real problem had the number of nodes been a lot higher...

Thanks to all.. I didn't know about the vector validater, thanks for pointing it out. I used it so I could see how it works. I had never seen that issue before, and didn't really know where to begin looking.

Kipp,
Thank you for posting this. Nice thing about these posts is that we all get a chance to learn new things.
